Councils are the elected governing bodies representing the churches that comprise their Associations.

Committees on Ministry are responsible for reviewing and interviewing candidates for first time authorization: ordination, commissioning and licensure. It is also responsible for adjudicating fitness for ministry reviews. It is responsible for setting policy, direction and the delegation of authority to its working groups.

The Eastern Ohio and Western Reserve Associations have developed several programs designed to foster and enhance church vitality, lay leader development, youth, and faith formation.

A Prophetic Witness Team is a group that addresses an issue of social concern. Its membership is comprised of those persons who have been identified for their expertise and interest. Its purpose is to engage the local setting and association in education and/or advocacy, to be a religious voice in the public sphere and to promote the creation of a just society.
